This club was one of Madison’s favorite activities because it provided a place for all students to feel welcome. Club activities included sitting and talking, playing board games, completing scavenger hunts, and playing flag football. The central idea was to be there as a support network for these unique learners. This idea of ‘inclusion’ was very important to Madison, and often, she used her lunchtime as an opportunity to invite her Husky Buddy friends to sit with her. Another program in which Madison took part was the Readers are Leaders program. This program focused on pairing Tuscarora athletes with at-risk elementary students at Francis Hazel Reid Elementary School who needed help with reading. Activities ranged from listening to the child read and helping with pronunciation to playing fun vocabulary building games.
Madison was also very active in sports while at Tuscarora. You would find Madison participating on the basketball court or at the high jump pit and as an avid fan who loved to get the crowd pumped up while cheering on her fellow huskies from the student section. While in school, Madison was tri-captain of the basketball team. In her Junior year, before Covid hit, Madi suffered a second severe knee injury and could not continue to play. However, she took on other organizational and leadership roles while cheering her team on from the sidelines.
A key factor in one of Madison’s post-graduate major choices stems from a selective five-day program she attended called F.A.I.T, or Future Agents in Training, sponsored by the FBI. This program sparked an intense interest in criminology that prompted her to continue her study in Administrations of Justice at the Academies of Loudoun which was Madi’s favorite class. Regardless of the major Madi chooses, her desire to help others is the motivation that will drive her final decision.
The Lucketts Ruritan Club wishes her much success in her future endeavors and could not be prouder to support her in this next phase of her life.
