Lucketts Ruritan Club Donates 60+ Coats to Children at Lucketts Elementary School
On Wednesday December 17, 2014, the Lucketts Ruritan Club, now in its 35th year of service to the Lucketts community, delivered over 60 coats, pairs of tennis shoes and gloves to Lucketts Elementary School to distribute to children.
In September the Club invited the new Principal, Carolyn Clement, to speak to the Club at their monthly dinner meeting. In her remarks she mentioned that some children needed coats and tennis shoes. Subsequently the club’s Board of director’s discussed the matter and approved a budget for the coats and shoes and appointed the “Coat Team” to purchase and deliver them. The Team determined that Walmart had the best quality for the price and decided to add a pair of gloves with each coat.
“The Lucketts Ruritan Club is well known for its charitable donations to community organizations and its weekly trash and recycling program. This donation is what our Club is all about – identifying where we can help our community and making a difference for those affected”, said Peter Gustafson, Club President.
“Although we live in one of the wealthiest counties in this nation, we have many families, right here in our own community that need support. Especially at this time of year, when giving and good will are in our thoughts, we truly appreciate that the Lucketts Ruritan Club is here to provide a coat and shoes for any of our students who are in need. Thank you to all those who have participated in these efforts”, said Carolyn Clement, Principal, Lucketts Elementary School.
